A Game Of Thrones Wedding

Since I have yet to come across someone who has had a Game of Thrones themed wedding I decided to create one myself starting with the Stark family crest “winter is coming” save-the-date above that I changed to “a wedding is coming”.

Game of Thrones is an American medieval fantasy series about seven noble families fighting for control of the mythical land of Westeros. Based on author George R. R. Martin‘s best-selling A Song of Ice and Fire series of fantasy novels, the first of which is called A Game of Thrones, the television series debuted in the U.S. on April 17, 2011 on HBO.
I hope some of these will inspire would be Brides and Grooms into creating their own Game of Thrones wedding.

The Attire:

Add a Game of Thrones patch to your wedding party like shown or as a replacement for a boutonniere. The patch is from Etsy shop Storied Threads and is an interpretation of the coats of arms of the nine major houses from George R. R. Martin’s “A Song of Ice and Fire” series.

This Game of Thronescake was made by Kensei Yonzon for an unnamed client. “The seat, armrests, and backrest are all cake,” Yonzon said. “The swords are all chocolate fondant. The fondant is made from marshmallows and milk chocolate. [The] cake is chocolate with dark chocolate frosting.”

  1. I have a file on my computer and a tab folder called "my future wedding," and i have just copied all the pics from this post into my folder and saved this into my tabs. I can now only hope my future husband like GoT as much as I do.

  2. Oh My Goodness this is hilarious! Lannister blonde?! That is – pun intended – GOLDEN. I’m almost through the second book and I am so loving this series, both on TV and in print.

  3. omg what an AWESOME idea! I am only just at the beginning of book 2 – but i just LOVE this … I think it will only be a matter of time before someone really does this for their wedding … and i can’t wait :)

  4. Could you please e-mail or post the “Wedding is Coming” save the date template? I want to edit it for our wedding date (12-21-12) so that I can be the coolest fiancee ever! The boy will LOVE IT.

    Geeky Bride-to-Be

  5. While this is sounds like a cool idea, read the books and beware of the Red Wedding between the Starks and the Freys

  6. My fiance and I are also planning a geek wedding, with some Game of Thrones elements. We are using the ‘A Wedding is coming’ for the Save the date cards, and we also bought the T-shirts (much cooler then the typical ‘Bride to be’ and ‘Future Groom’ shirts). Also instead of simply numbering the tables we are naming them all after Castles in Game of Thrones, and our sweetheart table is going to be named ‘The Iron Throne’ we are also renting medieval Throne style chairs to sit in :-)

    • That sounds awesome! Can’t wait to see photos and I’m so glad you like the “A Wedding Is Coming” shirt.
