Reshele + Brent’s Gamer Wedding Full Of
Known as the gaming couple among their friends Reshele and Brent incorporated touches of their “geeky” personality into their gamer themed wedding. “PC to console to board games we pretty much play it all. When we were planning our wedding, the one thing we knew for sure we wanted was to reflect that aspect of our relationship. It started with our engagement shoot. We wanted to incorporate our love of games in the clothes we wore to the props we used. During the wedding we wanted to keep things more simple.”
For the ceremony, guests sat listening to music from Legend of Zelda while the wedding party walked down to a mix of songs from the Final Fantasy Piano Collections. The gamer theme continued on into the reception with all the tables being named after the couple’s favorite games. Brent drawing all the pictures of the games and names to be placed at each table. ”At the time we were avid World of Warcraft players so for the particular table my husband drew our main WoW characters.”
So that guests could find their tables, their names and table names were put on mini boardgame candies. A cute idea that that serve as both a place card and wedding favor. Once at their seats, guests were given sugar cookies shaped like items from popular video games. ”We had Mario stars, red and green mushrooms, Bullet Bill, Yoshi eggs, Pacman and ghosts and a few Moogles.” The cookies were placed in a simple white box tied with ribbon that had the Kingdom Hearts logo, which was also represented in their wedding colors and names.
Their caketopper was custom made by Paul Pape Designs to look like the couple’s Mii’s dressed in wedding clothes. Adding just a touch of geekiness to their beautiful white wedding cake.
A clever way to cover a blank photo booth backdrop, use wall decals. These Super Mario Bro’s decals utilized in the couple’s photo booth, can easily be attached to any wall and are a great money saver if you want to DIY. ”I think my favorite aspect of the wedding was our photo booth. For the background we decided to use Mario decals and an assortment of props could be found in our toy chest. What I also loved was that when our videographers made our same-day-edit/highlights reel to play at the end of our wedding, they included hints of gamer theme, from sound effects to the beginning and ending title fonts.”
