Proposal At Star Wars Celebration IV

Star Wars Celebration VI wrapped up this Sunday in Orlando, Florida bringing fans together from all over the world to celebrate their love of all things Star Wars, and for one fanboy, his love for a girl named Mary. “The proposal was a surprise. I knew that Jason had a ring, but had no idea what he was planning,”  Mary (a Princess Cast Host and Panels On Pages Contributer) adds, “ I had to work on Thursday and Friday during Star Wars Celebration VI, and it was at that time that he bought a picture and autograph tickets for Carrie Fisher. He surprised me with the tickets on Friday night, and those completely threw me off of any inclination that he might propose.”

After taking pictures with Carrie on Saturday afternoon, Jason suggested that the two also get a picture with Roxy the Rancor. Sponsored by the 501st Legion Roxy is a life-sized foam Rancor sculptored by Rick Bohler, weighing in at 700-pounds and 17-feet in length. Jason, knowing Mary had been following Roxy on Facebook, knew she wouldn’t past up the opportunity as she happily handed her camera over to the Imperial officer guarding the Rancor. Positioning herself in its outstretched hand, Mary says, “I didn’t see Jason get on one knee or anything. I looked down to see him kneeling with an open ring box. After that it was all a blur to me (I barely could squeak out a yes, and I cried more than I care to admit, especially after everyone in line started to cheer), and unbeknownst to me our friends were hiding nearby.”

When the newly engaged couple went to get an autograph with Carrie Fisher the next day. Jason told Carrie about their engagement, including her part as the decoy surprise.” She congratulated us, and that was amazing. I guess you could call us superfans, because we told Princess Leia we were engaged before telling our own parents!”
Their date is already set for May 4th, 2013, Mary adds, “not only is it “Star Wars Day”, but it is also the three year anniversary of our first text message conversation. Nerdy love is the best!” Congrats!

So awesome! (Although Roxy is only a 1/3 scale what the real one is, I was following the building of her via their website.)
