Even in death love lives on for couple Janette and Brian who had a frightfully, fun Halloween wedding. Half of the dynamic duo that runs the fangirl blog Le Geek Janette says, “I can say with all certainty that my wedding day was the best day of my life…I’ve never been a traditional gal so logically I wasn’t looking to plan a traditional wedding.” With over a year to plan, once the date was set the couple sent out their zombie themed Save the Dates and home-made invites to prepare guests well in advance for what was in store for them.
Janette and Brian decided on keeping the ceremony relatively traditional opting for a chapel located at a cemetery to still tie into their theme. Janette wore a white wedding dress and veil with a cobwebbed red rose bouquet the groom a grey suit and matching Halloween themed boutonniere. Being the geeks that they are, after the two were pronounced husband and wife the couple made their exit down the aisle to the theme from Star Wars. Always a great way to end a wedding ceremony.
After the ceremony guests were given time to get ready for the couple’s costumed reception! “All in all, I’m very lucky to have married such an awesome guy that would even be willing to go with a crazy idea like a Halloween wedding. We make a great geeky team.”
Janette has some great advice for couples planning their own wedding: “DIY is not for the faint of heart, especially with something as stressful as planning a wedding. So time, patience, and research made all the difference. Some good tips I can give to someone who wants to do something similar is A)Discuss a budget, stick to it as closely as possible. B)Figure out what key elements are important to you, and do your research. C) Don’t get discouraged, think of the end result. D) Enlist your friends to help with projects. E) Have Fun! That’s the point right?”
