Marlene + Rodolfo’s 8-Bit Gamer Wedding

Marlene and Rodolfo’s 8-bit retro game wedding is a blast from the past and completely handmade. “We did everything ourselves,” says Marlene, “from the stationary to the gifts as we didn’t want anything too “professional” looking and wanted more of a home made feel to it. Basically we wanted to have fun and relaxed feel to the wedding!”

This geeky couple met in college during their Computer Science degree in Portugal, and married on their 10th dating anniversary. “The first thing we knew about our wedding day was that it would be 8-bit games themed!”

Piteira Photography was on hand to photograph the couple at the picturesque Quinta da Taipa in Alenquer, Portugal. “Our day was just perfect, and we spent almost one year creating all the things that made it so special. We did everything for the wedding, and had a lot of fun putting it together.”

During Marlene’s search for the perfect heels she found Figgie who does custom painted shoes. She had them paint their New York proposal story on them with 8-bit hearts and Space Invaders.

“We bought a Silhouette Cameo to cut our stationary and it was the best thing ever! Our save the dates were so cute, and so where the invitations! And so easy to do as well, amazing machine! We also used the Silhouette to cut small Space Invaders to put in the tiny bags of rice that the guests would throw at us after the ceremony.”

“Our table map was one of the last things we did, literally a couple of days before the wedding! It’s a super sized Game Boy, and each table is a level of the game.”
