Red curtains and black and white chevrons invite guests into The Black Lodge, an extradimensional place featured in the television series Twin Peaks, and the inspiration behind Megan and Jason’s color palette for their Twin Peaks themed wedding.
A long time fan of the mystery, supernatural serial drama bride Megan incorporated many details from the show including their tables being named after trees (The Sycamore Table and The Douglas Fir Table), favors made to look like the voice recorder Agent Dale Cooper used to communicate with Diane and serving coffee in “Double R Diner” mugs along with doughnuts. The couple’s venue, the historic Log Cabin in San Francisco, was the perfect setting for their September wedding shot by Faith Lucille Photography.
Although the two met while working and living in California, the couple now live in London where they are busy organizing events such as World Zombie Day and running the Warhammer podcast – The Overlords.
What would you have done differently? Coordinating a wedding overseas was really difficult and I couldn’t have done it without my wedding planner Celia Rose. She completely got the theme and what we were trying to do, plus as someone I would consider non-traditional was able to help make the day something truly special. If I had I had a chance to do things differently, I would have done a Saturday wedding instead of a Sunday and I would have also been more involved with things on the day of the wedding. Having to “not be seen” as the bride was hard to deal with and as someone who has done events in the past, I think I would have been more gratified to be in the thick of things on the day – at least in the beginning. Probably not something most would choose, but being hands off was hard for me.
Favorite part of your wedding? Although not in theme, our favorite part of the wedding was the first dance to Nick Cave’s What Can I Give You? followed by Jawbreaker’s Jinx Removing – where everyone piled onto the dance floor old punks and old folks alike.
