Back in early 2012 a wedding show like no other was born promising a completely new and unique approach to traditional shows. The suppliers have all been hand picked by the crazy hearts and minds of three creative wedding industry suppliers: Sassy, better known as Assassynation photography; Jo the creative wizard behind the Couture Company and Rawhide Corsets and Vikki, the ethereal, floaty, fairytale inspired designer behind Liliia. Based on a desire to showcase the very best of the UK’s alternative wedding industry, they have searched high and low for some super talented and amazing suppliers and dubbed them the Bad Ass Mother Flockers!

Like many other wedding shows The Eclectic Wedding Extravaganza showcases the best the industry has to offer from dress makers to cake designers, but this isn’t your ordinary wedding show. Step inside this wedding extravaganza to find custom comic book heels, three-tiered Back To The Future and lavish skull and rose themed wedding cakes, as well as, bespoke wedding gowns inspired by fairies and fantasy to tattoos and rockabilly. Their second show on March 24th continues to cater to couples who want “their” wedding be it Gothic, punk rock, geeky and everything in-between. It’s your day and your vision so “don’t be a wedding sheep…..it should be all about EWE!!”

Unlike ordinary wedding shows the suppliers, also known as the Baad Ass Mother Flockers, have all been hand picked and invited by the creators of The Eclectic Wedding Extravaganza and industry professionals themselves – Sassy of Assassynation, Jo of The Couture Company and Vikki of Lillia. “The Eclectic Wedding Extravaganza was born out of a real and genuine need for an alternative wedding show, the mainstream and vintage sections of our industry are adequately catered for, but what if you are a geek or a goth?” asks Jo. “The suppliers aka the Baad Ass Mother Flockers have been chosen and invited based on their personalities, the quality of their end product and the fact that they offer something unique. White linen covered trestle tables are discouraged and hard sells are banished.” The trio is also challenging their “Mo Flo’s” to create stands that are totally unique and interactive and unlike anything you’ve before.

Choosing a hen or stag party which will cater to your geeky needs can be tricky when much of what’s on offer out there is centered around strippers and boozing. It’s not all about mainstream ideas like these though; there are some quirky and downright geeky stag and hen party ideas out there if that’s what you’re looking for! Here at Redseven we’ve selected some of our favorites to give you some inspiration if you’re looking for something a little different.

1. Zombie Paintball
For fans of zombie horror then nothing quite beats turning it into a reality, with you and your friends as the heroes! Ok, the zombies are played by actors, but they’ll still be groaning and bloody as you line them up within the sights of your paint gun. This ultimate alternative stag or hen do idea begins with being trained on target practice before getting to use your paint gun to fight against a zombie infestation scenario on a specially designed site. This is one experience which you won’t forget – providing you survive!

It’s “Always A Good Time” for Doug and Nuala with a groom and his party wearing kilts, fire-dancers and a reception at the local brewery. I love when the couple’s family really get into the song and also a little surprised they know the lyrics to Carly Rae Jepsen and Owl City’s “Always A Good Time”.

Marryokes (a play on “marriage” and “karaoke”) is a wedding videography company with a twist. Filmed throughout your wedding day couples can pick any song they desire and Marryokes will capture the whole story from the major parts to the tiny details. Their most popular Marryoke, Black Eyed Peas’ “I Gotta Feeling” video which captured Paul and Clodagh’s Ireland wedding went viral with almost 1 million hits on YouTube.

Minted which offers stationery and invitations sourced from a global community of independent artists and designers, has teamed up with an amazing non-profit organization Every Mother Counts. Founded by Christy Turlington Burns, Every Mother Counts is an advocacy and mobilization campaign to improve global maternal health. Minted will be donating 50% of the sales of their children’s and nursery art collection to Every Mother Counts in the month of December 2012 and 6% until May 2013.

Minted provides independent designers and artists an opportunity to have their designs sold online at Minted.com through community voted design competitions. With their successful approach to crowd-sourcing stationary online, the San Francisco based company has recently expanded to include archival-quality art prints. Artists and designers from around the world can submit original designs and photographs to the Minted site, and the most popular designs are voted by the community and sold on Minted.com. In addition, the winning designers also receive a nice cash prize, a 6 percent commission on all the sales of their work and Minted handles all the behind the scenes work like: the printing, shipping, packaging, and customer service on all orders.

Too many great finds? Why not start with a 2013 calender photo calender created exclusively for Minted by their talented community of independent designers. You know your going to need one.
