Thor Proposes To Loki

Proposing to your boyfriend dressed at Thor and him as Loki at Youmacon 2012 is not only the geekiest thing I’ve seen today, but also the sweetest. Having met at a previous Youmacon it was the perfect setting for a proposal for two longtime cosplayers. I don’t want to spoil the surprise, but let’s just say, the two are shopping for Loki and Thor related wedding items.

New Year’s Eve Freeze Mob Proposal

You’ve seen flash mob proposals before but what about a freeze mob proposal? See what happens when your the only one in the room not in on the surprise.

DIY: Comic Book Initials

Monograms are a great way to personalize your wedding by incorporating your initials, and creating your own monograms make for an even better keepsake for after the wedding. Taking traditional wooden letters and geeky them up with some comic books and Mod Podge is blogger Elizabeth Giorgi of Being Geek Chic.

“If you love comic books, but don’t just want to frame them up, consider embracing the letter and marquee trend and paper mâchéing your favorite comic book on your favorite letter of the alphabet. The results are quite delightful.

In this video, I used two issues of Wonder Woman to make a lovely W and an issue of Captain Marvel to make the giant M.”

Monograms usually consist of three, two or simply just the first letter in the couple’s last name. Before the wedding ceremony, engaged couples generally use the combination of their first name initials “G&H“with the bride-to-be’s initial represented first. Married couples use the three-letter monogram incorporating the initial of their shared surname used after the ceremony. Traditionally, the groom’s last name initial is represented in the center with the first name initials of the couple on either side in smaller font. For example, the monogram HPG might be used for Harry and Ginny Potter.

Through All Of Time And Space, I’m Yours

I came across this amazing Doctor Who styled video on Vimeo and was just blown away by everything about it. The music, “Doctor” by Chris Bartels of Anthem Falls Music is a beautiful instrumental that perfectly sets the mood and accompanies the bride and groom as they read their vows.

“I’ll take you as my Companion forever through all of time and space, I’m yours”…

You’ll find lots of great ideas to incorporate the Doctor into your own wedding in this video; the Tardis inspired window panes behind the officiant, the Van Gogh Doctor Who wedding cake by A Twist of Cake, the Gallifrey wedding stationary. You can tell these wedding vendors, Jakfoto Films, Candice Benjamin Photography and First Pick Planning, who styled this video are not only great at what they do but Doctor Who fans at heart.

Iron Man Arc Reactor Proposal

This Tony Stark gave his heart away to a girl, and she said yes! “She calls me Tony Stark for all of the projects I have going,” says Eddie Zarrick. “So how great would it be if my “Arc Reactor Heart” could give her the ring?” The idea came to Eddie after previously creating a simple Arc Reactor prop replica which he proudly displays on his desk. The perfect proposal for a girl who loves Iron Man and comics.

Eddie redesigned his arc reactor, made it smaller and added more details. “My idea was to use two servos controlled by an arduino,” explains Eddie,”at first I was not sure how to light it up, but I had some of AdaFruit’s RGB LED Strip laying around from a pinball project. So I cut off enough to go around the reactor and used the arduino to control that as well! Also added a couple of bright white LEDs to hit the ring once it comes out.”

Eddie’s blog has some pretty cool projects and mods including a Mini Mame Cab from a NetBook and a XBOX 360 Laptop but says this one “is by far one of more fun projects Ive ever done!”

It’s Always A Good Time

It’s “Always A Good Time” for Doug and Nuala with a groom and his party wearing kilts, fire-dancers and a reception at the local brewery. I love when the couple’s family really get into the song and also a little surprised they know the lyrics to Carly Rae Jepsen and Owl City’s “Always A Good Time”.

Marryokes (a play on “marriage” and “karaoke”) is a wedding videography company with a twist. Filmed throughout your wedding day couples can pick any song they desire and Marryokes will capture the whole story from the major parts to the tiny details. Their most popular Marryoke, Black Eyed Peas’ “I Gotta Feeling” video which captured Paul and Clodagh’s Ireland wedding went viral with almost 1 million hits on YouTube.

An Angry Birds Save The Date Video

Ana and Ricardo’s Angry Birds inspired save the date video pits the two love birds against each other in a winner take all battle. An innocent game of Angry Birds on the couple’s iPad turns competitive, resulting in various battles of cards, cracker eating and eventually a real-life Angry Birds challenge.

Batman Proposes To His Batgirl At DragonCon 2012

After eleven years of courtship Ruby, with the help of Actor Dean Cain, proposed to his long time love Jennifer at DragonCon 2012 in Atlanta, GA. Known for his role as Superman in the 1990′s hit “Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman” and all-around nice guy, Dean makes a “super” surprise appearance to help out a nervous Ruby in his proposal.

In front of hundreds of onlookers at the DC Comics Photo Shoot, Dean pulls an unsuspecting Jennifer dressed as Batgirl from the crowd. Ruby, dressed appropriately as Batman, joins his girlfriend (in a cute set-up) is handed the proposal ring from the Actor. She said Yes!
