Alexz + Kevin’s Tim Burton-esque Alice Engagement Shoot

This Alice in Wonderland, Tim Burton inspired engagement shoot comes from the quirky mind of Alexz, your not-so-average bride who drew inspiration from her love of the music Meat Loaf, Tim Burton and Walt Disney. Mixing the three together, with Minnesota based photographer Amber Fischer behind the lens, made for a “bizarre, unique and fabulous combination,” says Amber. “Alexz is one-of-a-kind, which is why I immediately liked her and immediately knew I would do anything to be her event photographer.

Alexz is an artist who brings “monsters and Wonderland” together in her Etsy shop Spooky Pooky Creations. “We decided to go with a bit of an Alice in Wonderland theme for their engagement shoot,” adds Amber, “and found the coolest location to shoot it in.” Their vision came to life when they found an abandoned Victorian house surrounded by overgrown trees and wild rose bushes. “It felt like evening no matter what time of day it was. Magic.”

Fangirl Cupcakes

The dedicated fangirl and baker over at Nerdache Cakes has created some amazingly geeky cupcakes and cakes in the past, but check out her latest creation. This Loki cupcake inspired by the Avengers.

“Loki’s helmet is made from 24 separate fondant pieces, and took over 3 days to put together. It’s pretty screen accurate- besides it being edible! His horns are actually carved pieces of fondant that started as solid rectangles”, says Ant.

Every week, Ant takes requests from a new Fandom and replicates it in cake form. She is currently taking submissions for her Legend of Korra Cake Challenge!

Day 1: Alice In Wonderland Necklace

It was all very well to say `Drink me,’ but the wise little Alice was not going to do that in a hurry. `No, I’ll look first,’ she said, and see… However, this bottle was not marked `poison,’ so Alice ventured to taste it, and finding it very nice, (it had, in fact, a sort of mixed flavour of cherry-tart, custard, pine-apple, roast turkey, toffee, and hot buttered toast,) she very soon finished it off.
