Stephanie + Shawn’s Spooky, Second Chance Wedding
On October 17th, Stephanie and Shawn were pronounced husband and wife in an intimate ceremony performed by their pastor after having to cancel their October 13th wedding.
Five years later, the couple whose birthdays both fall on the 13th day of different months, decided to have the wedding they originally planned but never had. The theme for their second chance wedding, Halloween Chic, beautifully shot by Catchlight Photography featuring a haunting color scheme of red, black and white. “I know [the colors] are overly done,” says bride Stephanie, “but I just can’t get away from that color scheme. Halloween is our absolute favorite holiday (mine to) better than Christmas! Fall is amazing, nice and cool with pretty leaves (and fall is a big deal to my Florida family since there isn’t a fall down there).”
Having already tied the knot once before the two opted for a less traditional ceremony foregoing the exchanging of the rings. Instead, the couple choose to perform a handfasting. An European ceremony that dates back to pre-Medieval times and usually involves the tying or binding of the hands of the bride and groom with a cord or ribbon. “I have a 7 year old Stepson and really wanted to include him as much as possible, says Stephanie, “so we did a family handfasting with me, Hubby, and my Stepson. Instead of having the pastor wrap the ribbon around our hands, we had my Stepson wrap it (as well as his hand being included with ours).” Signifying that family is not made from blood but rather from love.
Hello Kitty Bridal Shower
This super cute and super pink Hello Kitty bridal shower held on the patio of Café Hidalgo in Fullerton, California is a great theme for a girly bridal shower, and event designers 161 Studio brought it all together elegantly.
“Our objective was to style the shower in a way that incorporated Hello Kitty, but in a more sophisticated and subtle way befitting ladies at a bridal shower without going overboard with kitschy store-bought Hello Kitty items. In fact, the only store-bought Hello Kitty item at the bridal shower were the Hello Kitty candy necklace favors that the bride-to-be had purchased herself”
