When Atlanta based filmmaker Walt Thompson decided to propose to his girlfriend of 4 years, he knew he wanted it to be special. Spending several days and taking 2,600 painstakingly posed photographs to create an intricate stop motion video. Capturing the couple’s story from how they met and fell in love to their eventual walk down the aisle lined with Star Wars figures, Indiana Jones, a boxer and a zookeeper.

Having seen a photo online of Lego Stormtroopers hoisting up Darth Vader into a pint of Guinness (concept originally from Kevin Pulton) the Bride had the idea to recreate it in cake form for a groom’s cake.  So set  off Jen Roberts owner of Sweet Elements a one woman cake shop in East Orange, NJ to create this edible geeky creation. Keeping in the Guinness theme, the cake is Guinness Chocolate Cake, filled and frosted with Guinness buttercream and decorated in fondant.

“It’s unusual that I actually get to see my clients’ reactions at weddings as I usually set up before they get into the room, but in this particular case, when the bride slipped and mentioned that there was a surprise groom’s cake waiting in the ballroom, the groom just HAD to see the cake before the reception!  It was definitely a pleasure to grab this quick picture of very happy bride & groom with their pints of Guinness & their Guinness cake!”
