Megan + Jeremiah’s Epic Gears Of War Wedding
A match made in Gears Of War Megan and Jeremiah both met, pwned and fell in love in the third-person shooter from Epic Studios. The couple’s gamer wedding featured a Link and Zelda cake topper, comic book character table names and a Minecraft ring box. Not to be outdone, their cake cutting utensil of choice: a retrolancer (a gun from the video game series) which was bought when Gears of War 3 was released the same day Jeremiah proposed.
Photographer Emily McGonigle snapped some great shots of the cute couple at their Farmhouse wedding in Pennsylvania. “It was really important to me that we find a photographer that would take the types of photos I really like. My mom sent me a ton of super pricey, old school photographers- not terrible, just not my style,” says the bride.
The major costs of their wedding came from the venue and food for up to 50 people coming in at around $4000. The bride’s mom made her veil, shawl, bouquets, boutonnieres, headband and the dinosaur lollipops. The couple also saved money by having an “iTunes wedding, meaning we just loaded up our iPad with the music we wanted and hooked it up to some speakers”, says Megan. The flowers on the tables were the only real flowers, which were bought the night before the wedding at a local grocery store. “I tried to spend as little as possible, haha. I’d say, including the venue, dress, rings, and all the other stuff it came close to $6000. Comparing it to that infographic that floats around about average wedding costs, I feel we did pretty well!” That average coming in at around $27,000!
